What would a 1970s action film starring Ryan Gosling and Russel Crowe look like?
The new trailer for Shane Black’s “The Nice Guys” goes above and beyond the requisite facial hair, vintage clothes and ’70s soundtrack by giving the the action-comedy an authentic-looking retro treatment. The low-fi footage is more than just a clever marketing ploy–it makes the film seem like a product of a bygone era.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“The Nice Guys” takes place in 1970s Los Angeles, when down-on-his-luck private eye Holland March (Gosling) and hired enforcer Jackson Healy (Crowe) must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.
