The first trailer of the Justin Chadwick-directed period romance “Tulip Fever,” starring Academy Award-winner Alicia Vikander, Christoph Waltz and Dane DeHaan, has been released, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.
The 17-century drama, set in the Netherlands, is based on the Deborah Moggach novel of the same name and revolves around a secret love affair that ignites between a married woman (Vikander) and an artist (DeHaan) after he is commissioned to paint a portrait of her and her husband (Waltz). The unhappily married Sophia then makes a plan with her new lover to escape away together while risking their lives.
Judi Dench, Matthew Morrison, Cara Delevingne, Jack O’Connell, and Zach Galifianakis also form part of the star-studded cast. The script was adapted for the screen by “Shakespeare in Love’s” Tom Stoppard.
The film was actually filmed two years ago and will see its limited release this year thanks to The Weinstein Company. Watch the trailer above.
