Nicolas Winding Refn gained cult status with “Bronson” and “Valhalla Rising,” made inroads into the mainstream with “Drive,” and took a sideways turn with the divisive “Only God Forgives.” So it’ll be interesting to see how his upcoming “The Neon Demon” will be received. And we’re about to find out.
Starring Elle Fanning, Jena Malone, Karl Glusman, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee, Desmond Harrington, Christina Hendricks and Keanu Reeves, the movie follows Jesse, an aspiring model who moves to Los Angeles, only to encounter a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has. It’s a Countess Bathory-inspired story horror flick, one that Refn says is about “vicious beauty.”
