The Marvel Cinematic Universe is ever-expanding and, unlike our own, it doesn’t yet appear to be headed toward an eventual heat death. Recently added to that increasingly vast fictional world is Nathan Fillion, whom surreptitious on-set photographs reveal to be a cast member in the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”. The “Firefly” star is playing Simon Williams, AKA Wonder Man, himself an actor within the Marvel world.

The pictures posted to Instagram show a marquee for the Simon Williams Film Festival and posters for several of his films: a Tony Stark biopic whose key art is strangely similar to last year’s “Steve Jobs,” a sequel to witch-classic “Haxan,” the barbarian epic “Akron” and a rom-com called “Oh, Rebecca!” When he’s not winning plaudits for his acting chops, Williams is enjoying his superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility and reflexes while being angry that Stark’s father put his own pops out of business.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and former WWE Champion Dave Bautista are all reprising their roles in the sequel, as is director James Gunn. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
