Few would argue that “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” was free of problems, but fewer still would point to Jeremy Irons’ performance as one of them. It should thus come as good news even to viewers who were none too pleased with Zack Snyder’s latest installment in the DC Comics mythos that the Oscar winner will reprise his role as Alfred in the upcoming “Justice League Part One.”

The film, which just began shooting in London last month, will likewise be directed by Snyder. Also returning are Ben Affleck (as Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Amy Adams (Lois Lane); new to the series are Ezra Miller as the Flash, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Amber Heard as Mera, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe in an as-yet unspecified role.
The role of Alred was previously played by Michael Caine in Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy and Michael Gough in the Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher cycle that began in the late ’80s. “Justice League Part One” is set to be released on November 17, 2017.
