“Beauty isn’t everything,” says an offscreen voice. “It’s everything.” Fanning’s in-demand status makes her a target in this predatory industry, with much of the envy directed toward her character containing darker shades. The film mark’s Refn’s third trip to Cannes in the last five years: “Drive” took home the festival’s Best Director prize in 2011 and “Only God Forgives” debuted to a mixed reaction in 2013. Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Bella Heathcote and Karl Glusman co-star alongside Fanning. Amazon Studios and Broad Green Pictures will release “The Neon Demon” on June 24.
