The 50-second video was revealed during the CBS Upfront presentation at Carnegie Hall in New York on Wednesday. The snippet of the sci-fi series had no footage but revealed that it would have “new crews, new villains, new heroes and new worlds.”
The premiere episode and continuing ones will be available exclusively in the US on CBS All Access early next year. “Star Trek” is the first original series developed for CBS All Access. The show will also be distributed concurrently for television and multiple platforms around the world by CBS Studios International.
Bryan Fuller is on board as showrunner with Alex Kurtzman as executive producer along with “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry’s son, Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth, the COO of Roddenberry Entertainment, The Wrap reports. In 2009 Kurtzman co-wrote and produced the “Star Trek” film with Roberto Orci, and co-wrote “Star Trek Into Darkness” with Orci and Damon Lindelof in 2013. So he’s pretty familiar with the storyline and expectations.
