Steven Soderbergh Casts Jack O'Connell in Netflix Western Series — Indiewire's Wednesday Rundown

Jack O’Connell has been cast in the lead role of “Godless,” Netflix’s new Western drama series from co-creators Steven Soderbergh and Scott Frank. The show will be set in 1884 and center around an outlaw and his attempts to hunt down his former partner and present enemy. O’Connell, who broke out in indies like “Starred Up” and had mainstream exposure in Angelia Jolie’s “Unbroken,” will play Roy Goode, the friend-turned-enemy. The Hollywood Reporter first broke news of the casting.

– Carla Juri has been cast in Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated “Blade Runner” sequel. Her role is being kept under wraps, but Juri will star opposite Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Dave Bautista and Harrison Ford, who is set to reprise his role as Rick Deckard. Juri was a breakout on the indie scene in the wild coming-of-age movie “Wetlands.” Production on the “Blade Runner” sequel is set to begin this July.
