The Cannes Film Festival is now in full swing, with world premieres of such films as Olivier Assayas’ “Personal Shopper” and the Dardenne Brothers’ “The Unknown Girl” generating lively discussion over the last few days. Still one of the festival’s most buzzed-about selections despite not actually seeing the light of day yet, Nicolas Winding Refn’s “The Neon Demon” has just released two new clips ahead of its first screening.

In the first, an up-and-coming model played by star Elle Fanning is flanked by several of her peers/competitors in a palatial bathroom. Bathed in purple light, the four of them discuss cosmetic surgery before one of them turns her attention toward our heroine in an increasingly negative way. The second finds Fanning at a group audition, evaluated by two judges who needle her with questions and ask her the aspiring star to show them her runway walk.

Following “Drive” in 2011 and “Only God Forgives” in 2013, “The Neon Demon” is Refn’s third consecutive film to premiere in Cannes. (The former won him the festival’s Best Director prize.) Amazon Studios and Broad Green Pictures are releasing it stateside on June 24.
