AMC’s new miniseries “The Night Manager” follows former British solider Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) as he’s recruited by intelligence operative Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) to infiltrate the inner circle of international businessman and arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie). He’s tasked to detonate the alliance between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade in Washington D.C. as well as Whitehall. In tomorrow’s episode, Jed Marshall (Elizabeth Debicki), Roper’s girlfriend, catches Pine snooping around Roper’s bedroom, but Pine catches Jed in her own lie as well. “The Night Manager” is based on the 1993 John le Carré novel of the same name. It has been adapted by screenwriter David Farr (“Hanna”) to the present day. “The Night Manager” is the first television adaptation of a le Carré novel in over twenty years. Tom Hiddleston currently stars in two motion pictures: Marc Abraham’s “I Saw The Light,” a Hank Williams biopic, and Ben Wheatley’s “High-Rise,” which is now available on video on demand and will enter limited release on May 13th. Hugh Laurie is also currently a recurring character on HBO’s “Veep.”
