Lifetime’s dark dramedy “UnREAL” follows the behind-the-scenes operations at a fictional popular reality dating show “Everlasting,” where manipulation and salaciousness reigns supreme. Series’ protagonist Rachel Goldberg (Shiri Appleby), a young reality TV producer, is forced to swallow her integrity and principles to please the demanding executive producer Quinn King (Constance Zimmer) who’s breathing down her neck to do whatever it takes to drum up ratings. In these three teasers for season two, we see Rachel and Quinn selectively edit contestant soundbites in order to make innocent statements sound more dramatic. Watch the first teaser above.
“UnREAL” was created by Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, who previously worked as a producer on “The Bachelor,” and Marti Noxon, a former writer/producer on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Appleby is best known for her starring role as Liz Parker on The WB/UPN’s “Roswell,” as well as her recurring roles in “Chicago Fire” and Lena Dunham’s “Girls.” Constance Zimmer is best known for her role as Dana Gordon on the HBO series “Entourage,” Washington Herald reporter Janine Skorsky on “House of Cards,” as well as Mandy in Andrew Bujalski’s “Results.”
The second season of “UnREAL” will premiere on June 6th at 10pm Eastern only on Lifetime. Watch two other teasers for the upcoming season below.
