All eyes were on Bill Simmons last night as the former ESPN columnist launched his new HBO talk series “Any Given Wednesday.” Fortunately for the outspoken sports personality, he got an instant viral moment during his sit down with Ben Affleck. Simmons wasted no time in bringing up the “Deflategate” scandal that surrounded Affleck’s beloved New England Patriots, in which quarterback Tom Brady was suspended for deflating footballs during the 2015 AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts. The actor may be able to take bad reviews like a pro, but don’t get him started on “Deflategate.”
“Deflategate is the ultimate bullsh-t f-cking outrage of sports ever,” Affleck hilariously said. “It’s so f-cking stupid. They gave [Tom Brady] a suspension for a quarter of the regular season, which would be equivalent of suspending a baseball player for 40 f-cking days, which is what they do when you get busted taking steroids. By the way, If the NFL really knew had to test for steroids and HGH, there would be no f-cking NFL!”
If only Affleck could have been so honest when facing negative press for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The actor is currently in London filming the followup “Justice League,” and he’s finished production on his crime film “Live By Night,” in which he directs and stars. Simmons’ talk show airs Wednesdays at 10pm ET on HBO. Watch the full tirade below.
