Last week it was reported that Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Lawrence were in talks to join the female “Ocean’s Eleven” reboot starring Sandra Bullock. Now, it seems that two more ladies have joined the ensemble.
The site also reveals plot details, saying that the new Warner Bros. film is a continuation of the George Clooney-led franchise, with Bullock playing Danny Ocean’s ex-con sister. Blanchett, who will be the equivalent of Brad Pitt’s Rusty, is supposedly her right-hand woman. The premise is that they will form a team to steal a necklace from the Met Ball in order to frame a villainous gallery owner. Though none of this information has been confirmed by the studio.
To add to the continuing “Ocean’s” news, they are also reporting that Lawrence is not able to fit the film into her already jam-packed schedule and that a cameo by Clooney is not likely to happen in the first film. Production is scheduled to begin this fall, so we’ll be on the look out for any more information.
The female-led remake has been in the works for a couple of years with director Steven Soderbergh developing the reboot with Clooney and the late Jerry Weintraub producing and Olivia Milch writing the script.
The original “Ocean’s 11,” starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr, dates back to 1960. It was remade in 2001 with Clooney, Pitt, Matt Damon and a slew of talented actors, with the final “Ocean’s Thirteen” being released in 2007.
