Don’t celebrate yet, but it appears that HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” might be coming back for a ninth season.
Actor J.B. Smoove appeared on The Rich Eisen Show this week, where he told Eisen that during a recent phone conversation with Larry David, the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator told Smoove he was “thinking about coming back.” Smoove plays the character Leon on the HBO comedy.
“I called Larry, like, two weeks ago…This time, he brings up ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm.’ I don’t ever bring it up. He brought it up this time,” Smoove said, adding that he calls David to check in once every two weeks. “If Larry does not say no, there’s a possibility he’s going to say yes,” Smoove said.
Though talking about bringing back the show is not the same as actually going into production, David did ask Smoove if he would be available were the show to shoot another season. Smoove told David he would set aside anything else he was working on to come back, adding “it would be a fabulous thing to do.”
This isn’t the first time an actor from the series has hinted that the show isn’t over. In 2015, Jeff Garlin said there was a “51 percent” chance the show could return.
