As has been proven by recent efforts like “The Fighter” and “Creed,” boxing stories can make for the most gripping of dramas about redemption, legacy, mental hardship and much more. Miles Teller, who’s been in a bit of a rut since “Whiplash,” looks to join the bunch and bounce back into his much-talked about potential, throwing punches in the first trailer for the boxing biopic “Bleed For This.”
“Bleed For This” chronicles the true story of Vinny Pazienza, a world champion boxer who had to fight his way back to the ring after a car crash left him in jeopardy of never walking again. The role looks like it’ll be a prime spotlight for Teller, playing toward his knack for cocky charisma while also letting his drama chops stand tall.
The trailer premiered exclusively on PEOPLE, Entertainment Weekly and Sports Illustrated this morning. Check it out below.
“Bleed For This” is directed by Ben Younger and opens in limited release on November 4 and goes wide on November 23 — right in the meat of Oscar season.
