Cameron Crowe’s classic “Almost Famous” examined the lives of rock stars and groupies, but now he’s taking us behind-the-scenes for a look at the crews that travel with them — marking yet another notable transition from film to TV storytelling. “Roadies,” a Showtime series starring Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino, and Imogen Poots, is set to air on June 26th, but the network has already posted the pilot episode on Youtube.
According to the official synopsis, “‘Roadies’ gives an insider’s look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of a committed group of “roadies” who live for music and the de facto family they’ve formed along the way. The music-infused ensemble comedy series chronicles the rock world through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes and puts the spotlight on the backstage workers who put the show on the road while touring the United States for a successful arena-level band.”
Crowe serves as creator, writer, director, and executive producer and is joined by executive producers Winnie Holtzman and J.J. Abrams.
Check out the official debut of “Roadies” Sunday, June 26th at 10pm on Showtime. If you can’t wait until then, watch the pilot episode in full below.
