Reminiscing about his performances with Pesci in Martin Scorsese films like “Goodfellas” and “Casino,” De Niro noted that the latter film took place more than two decades ago. “It was the last time that … Joe and I did a picture with Marty, but, hopefully that is gonna change, Joe,” De Niro said, referring to Scorsese’s upcoming project, “The Irishman.” In addition to De Niro, the movie will star Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel, and Bobby Cannavale in a story about a mob hit man and his possible involvement with the murder of Jimmy Hoffa. As of now, however, Pesci has declined to get involved.
“Marty and I are planning to get back together for a movie I think will be a future ‘Guy Hall of Fame’ entry, that is if Joe has any more f*cks left in him,” De Niro said. “So far all he keeps saying is ‘Go f*ck yourself.’”
Pesci didn’t budge on his stance regarding joining the project, but he did play along with joke, using one of De Niro’s lines from “Casino” to tease his old friend. “Thank you Bob… I think,” he said. “You insulted me just a little bit, just a little bit.”
Spike TV will air The Guys’ Choice Awards on Thursday, June 9 at 9 p.m. EST.
