‘The Flash’ To Be Directed By ‘Dope’ Helmer Rick Famuyiwa

The "Dope" director will take on DC Comics' fastest man on earth film, set to be released in 2018.


The Flash” movie officially has a director. Deadline reports that Warner Bros has chosen Rick Famuyiwa to helm the upcoming DC Comics feature starring Ezra Miller as the fastest man alive.

Famuyiwa is known for his movies “The Wood,” “Brown Sugar” and most recently the indie film “Dope.” According to the site, while the studio was looking for the helmer to oversee the direction of the film, “the feeling internally was that Famuyiwa provided a vision that would resonate with young viewers and that vision was very compatible with the script that the studio is moving toward the start gate with.”

The superhero flick is being written by Seth Grahame-Smith, who was originally set as director but left the project due to creative differences. The script is based off a treatment by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the duo behind the “Lego Movie.”

Miller made his debut as The Flash in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and will appear in “The Justice League Part One.” He is currently finishing up filming for the Harry Potter spin-off “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.”

“The Flash” is scheduled to be released on March 16, 2018.
