MTV BET Town Hall

MTV News and BET News are teaming up for a town hall discussion in wake of the recent tragedies involving Thursday night’s Dallas sniper incident over the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.

“What Now? An MTV News and BET News Town Hall” will air live tonight, July 8 at 10pm ET/PT from the MTV’s Times Square studio. The program will feature an open forum of artists, activists and audience members discussing the issues underlying this latest round in a cycle of violence and tragedy in America. Viewers from home will be invited to use their voices by calling-in or via social media using #WhatNow.

The special will be hosted by MTV’s Charlamagne Tha God, Jamil Smith and Franchesca Ramsey, along with BET News’ Marc Lamont Hill. The town hall will air simultaneously on MTV, BET, VH1, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Live, VH1 Classic, MTV Hits, Centric and Logo, as well as get streamed on the networks’ Facebook Live and YouTube accounts.

The Dallas tragedy, which left five police officers dead and others wounded, stemmed from this week’s shooting of two black men – Sterling, outside a convenience story in Louisiana and Castile, during a routine traffic stop in Minnesota. Since then many celebrities and industry professionals, such as Beyoncé and “The Daily Show’s” Trevor Noah, have spoke up about the incident and called for unity, peace and most importantly reformation.
