Ben Affleck did his best to break the internet Monday by tweeting a short clip of the villain Deathstroke, who will appear in his upcoming Batman movie. Deathstroke will be the main villain in the film, The Wrap reports.
Affleck is attached to co-write, direct and star in the upcoming Batman reboot, which does not yet have a title. The tease video Affleck shared was apparently test footage for the film.
Deathstroke’s debut in DC comics came in 1980 in “New Teen Titans No. 2.” The villain whose real name is Slade Wilson is a skilled assassin with super strength and has played a role in Green Arrow’s rogues’ gallery. Other characters that have been enemies of Green Arrow include Brick, China White, Clock King, Constantine Drakon, Count Vertigo, Cupid, Hannibal Bates, Komodo, Merlyn and Onomatopoeia.
Wizard magazine once rated Deathstroke as the 24th greatest villain of all time.
Affleck’s Batman has appeared in two films thus far: “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Suicide Squad.” Warner Bros. has yet to set a date for the next Batman movie. In the meantime, Affleck will be working on the Agatha Christie adaptation, “Witness for the Prosecution,” which he will star in and direct.
