After a 10-episode stint on FX’s “Fargo,” Billy Bob Thornton has found himself at the center of another dark crime drama, the upcoming Amazon original series “Goliath,” created by David E. Kelly and Jonathan Shapiro.
Set in Los Angeles, the show stars Maria Bello, Olivia Thirlby and William Hurt. Here’s the official synopsis: Once a powerful lawyer, Billy McBride (Thornton) is now burned out and washed up, spending more time in a bar than a courtroom. When he reluctantly agrees to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of Cooperman & McBride, the massive law firm he helped create, Billy and his ragtag team uncover a vast and deadly conspiracy, pitting them all in a life or death trial against the ultimate Goliath.
“Goliath” is one of several new series Amazon has coming out this fall. The company recently produced the first season of the Tig Notaro dark comedy series “One Mississippi,” which airs on September 9, and Woody Allen’s six-episode series “Crisis in Six Scenes,” which premieres September 30. As IndieWire recently reported, Amazon is on something of a TV spending spree, having doubled its series production budget during the second half of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.
“Goliath” premieres on October 14. To watch the trailer for the show, check out the video below.
