‘Hell Or High Water’ Exclusive TV Spot: Critics Praise Heist Thriller From ‘Sicario’ Writer

Amidst the dire selection of summer films, there have been a few that are easy standouts. One of these films is the heist thriller “Hell or High Water,” which has garnered widespread critical acclaim. The film follows divorced father Toby Howard (Chris Pine) and his ex-con brother Tanner (Ben Foster) who commit several robberies to save their family’s West Texas farm from foreclosure. Hot on their trail are two Texas Rangers, the veteran Marcus Howard (Jeff Bridges) and his partner Alberto Parker (Gil Birmingham), who plan to bring the boys to justice dead or alive. The film is directed by David Mackenzie, whose previous films include “Starred Up,” “You Instead,” “Perfect Sense,” and “Spread.” It was written by Taylor Sheridan, who previously co-starred in the TV series “Sons of Anarchy” and wrote the acclaimed thriller “Sicario.” Meanwhile, Chris Pine is best known as Captain Kirk in the new “Star Trek” reboot series and Ben Foster is best known for his turns in “3:10 to Yuma,” “The Messenger,” “Kill Your Darlings,” and “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints.”

“Hell or High Water” premiered at the Un Certain Regard section of this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It’s currently in theaters.
