The Starz network has had more than its fair share of winning original programming in the past couple years. They have produced the fantasy hit “Outlander,” Sam Raimi’s horror series “Ash vs Evil Dead,” Patrick Stewart’s sitcom “Blunt Talk,” and Steven Soderbergh-produced series “The Girlfriend Experience.” But their series “Power,” created by Courtney Kemp Agboh (“The Good Wife”) and produced by rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, has been a smash hit for the network. The series’ third season premiere was the highest-rated episode of a Starz original series ever, and the network has already renewed it for a fourth and fifth season.
The series follows James “Ghost” St. Patrick, owner of the popular New York City nightclub “Truth” and a major drug player on the side. He struggles to manage a double life, as well as his marriage with Tasha (Naturi Naughton) and Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela Valdez (Lela Loren), and desperately tries to escape the drug game. Now, in the third season, James has left the drug business and has rekindled his relationship with Angela, but soon realizes that he can’t leave the past behind so easily. Meanwhile, Tasha struggles with the betrayal of her husband and being an independent single woman and mother, and James’ estranged best friend Tommy (Joseph Sikora) plots to murder his former partner in crime. Watch two exclusive clips from this Sunday’s episode below: the first features Ghost showcasing his “good intentions” to Angela and the second features Ghost talking to his security detail about any “potential threats.”
“Power” airs Sunday nights at 9pm Eastern exclusively on Starz.
