Logline: A fortune teller promises a rich man she can magically force the woman of his dreams into love. A mystical dramedy from the team behind “Homemakers.”
Struggling tarot reader Dinah finds a new client in a lonely rich man named Mark, who wants to gain back his estranged ex-girlfriend. In a mad grab for the Manhattan high life she always wanted, Dinah woos Mark into believing she has the magical powers to let him take whatever he wants, for a price – and together they build a fantasy world that changes both their lives. But when Dinah’s tricks and Mark’s dark side are revealed, she must convince a real occult community to help fix things and keep herself out of prison.

About the Film:
I’m interested in tarot and other occult rituals’ place in our society – they’re a great part of so many people’s lives, but mainstream culture mocks it as “superstition,” while a small criminal culture takes advantage of believers. Meanwhile, the mainstream culture pushes its own magical thinking, especially in young peoples’ ideas of romance and finances. This film is about two people willing to sacrifice to make the fantasies in their heads real: a woman who believes money is the answer to her problems, and a man who believes possession of a woman is the answer to his.
Current Status: We’re in fundraising and the design phase of pre-production.
