It’s a tale as old as time and now a new generation will get to experience the enchanting story of “Beauty and the Beast” with Disney’s live-action remake. The Bill Condon-directed film won’t be released until next year, but ever since the first teaser debuted, fans have been waiting for new glimpses at the upcoming movie. This week, new images featuring Lumière and Cogsworth (voiced by Ewan McGregor and Ian McKellen, respectively) were revealed and now we have a new behind-the-scenes clip featuring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens and the rest of the star-studded cast getting into character at the film’s table read.
In the video Condon also shares his excitement on being part of the project and how technology has caught up with the ideas that were introduced in the 1991 original animated movie to make this live-action version possible. The clip also includes a glimpse at the ballroom and the beloved candlestick and clock.
Refashioning the classic characters for contemporary audiences, this new version will stay true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. The highly-anticipated Disney film also co-stars Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Audra McDonald and Emma Thompson.
A longer version of the video below will be available on the 25th anniversary rerelease of the animated film, which is being released on digital HD on September 6 and on Blu-ray/DVD on September 20.
“Beauty and the Beast” arrives in theaters on March 17, 2017.
