With only a couple weeks left to go before the world premiere of Woody Allen’s first television series, “Crisis in Six Scenes,” Amazon has finally released the debut trailer, and it’s full of all the trademarks we’ve come to expect from Allen’s work. Between this and his well-reviewed “Cafe Society,” Allen is set to have a very pleasing 2016.
Starring Allen and Elaine May in the lead roles, the half-hour comedy series centers around a conservative suburban couple who get an unexpected crash course in 1960s counterculture from a young hippie, played by Miley Cyrus. John Mangaro and “House of Cards” breakout Rachel Brosnahan also star as the couple’s close family friend and his new fiancée, respectively.
The new trailer introduces viewers to the central couple, and May’s trademark Jewish matriarch pretty much steals the show. Cyrus seems to be dialing up the teenage angst of the period, and it looks like she’ll have no shortage of opportunities to go head-to-head with Allen.
“Crisis in Six Scenes” premieres September 30 on Amazon. Watch the debut trailer:
