Bill Paxton is back in familiar territory with Nathan Morlando’s family drama/thriller, “Mean Dreams,” as the film returns the actor to the role of unhinged patriarch that he so chillingly played in his own directorial debut, “Frailty.” Paxton stars in the film alongside “The Book Thief” breakout Sophie Nélisse and up-and-comer Josh Wiggins in the Canadian filmmaker’s feature debut. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and recently screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
In the film, Paxton plays Wayne, a corrupt local cop and the father of Casey (Nélisse). All hell breaks loose when Casey falls for Jonas (Wiggins) and the two attempt to elope — along with some stolen drug money — causing Wayne to go on a serious manhunt.
The film’s new trailer provides a glimpse at the film’s gritty feel and tension-filled plot. Check it out below.
