After practically inventing a genre with “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night,” AKA “the first Iranian vampire Western,” Ana Lily Amirpour is back with “The Bad Batch.” The filmmaker’s sophomore feature just debuted in Venice before making stops at TIFF and Fantastic Fest; it’s also debuted two new clips. Watch them below.
In one, we’re introduced to a series of muscle-bound weightlifters led by Jason Momoa, AKA Khal Drogo from “Game of Thrones”; he treats himself to a soda as his bodybuilding khalasar go about their swole business. The other finds star Suki Waterhouse getting into a rusty car somewhere in the desert that is Amirpour’s vision of a dystopian America. As Waterhouse applies makeup and looks at an old photo, two unwelcome visitors approach on a golf cart with some serious “Mad Max” vibes.
Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves and Diego Luna all-co star. “The Bad Batch” has yet to find a distributor, though Amirpour’s reputation is such that that’s likely to change soon.
