Keanu Reeves is working on a slew of upcoming thrillers (including the highly-anticipated “John Wick: Chapter 2”) and among his list is “The Whole Truth,” directed by Courtney Hunt and co-starring Renée Zellweger, Jim Belushi and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. A new poster and trailer for the feature have just been released by Lionsgate Premiere, which you can check out below.
The crime thriller centers around defense attorney Richard Ramsay (Reeves) after he’s hired by his widowed friend, Loretta Lassiter (Zellweger), and promises to keep her son Mike (Gabriel Basso) out of prison after he’s charged with murdering his father. As he uses the evidence to get his client acquitted, he begins to realize that there might be more to this story than he originally thought.
“The Whole Truth” has already been released in select overseas markets and in theaters in Japan. Daniel Craig was originally cast as the lead but dropped out of the project just days before filming was set to begin, he then was replaced by Reeves.
Reeves can next be seen in Ana Lily Amirpour’s “The Bad Batch,” opposite Jason Momoa and Jim Carrey, “Replicas” directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff and Marti Noxon’s “To the Bone.”
Zellweger was just seen in “Bridget Jones’s Baby,” which opened to a disappointing $8.2 million opening weekend in the U.S, but broke records in the U.K. with $11 million, the highest opening ever for a romantic comedy. It also opened at number one in 24 countries. She will next be seen in the drama “Same Kind of Different as Me,” out February 3, 2017.
“The Whole Truth” arrives in theaters and on-demand on October 21.
