After ten days of starry premieres, classy galas, audience members passing out from shock, dicey weather and one heck of an introduction to the general landscape of what awards season might look like this year, the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival has come to a close. As is tradition, the festival will close out with their annual awards brunch, during which each of the festival’s prizes will be doled out. If you’re not in attendance this year, you’re in luck, as the entire ceremony will stream live this afternoon and you can check it out below.
Awards to be given out at the brunch include the People’s Choice Award (the festival’s highest honor and long considered a harbinger for Oscar frontrunners), the People’s Choice Award For Documentary, the People’s Choice Award For Midnight Madness, Best Canadian Feature Film, Best Canadian First Feature Film, Prizes of the International Critics (FIPRESCI Prize) for Special Presentations Section, Prizes of the International Critics (FIPRESCI Prize) for Discovery Section, Discovery Programme Filmmakers Award, NETPAC Award For Best Asian Film, Best International Short Film, Best Canadian Short Film and the Platform Prize.
Last year’s People’s Choice Award winner was “Room,” which went on to be nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay and won Brie Larson her very first Oscar for Best Actress.
The Toronto International Film Festival awards brunch livestream can be found below. The awards ceremony begins at 12:30PM ET.
