Zen master and mindfulness icon Thích Nhất Hạnh has inspired hundreds of thousands around the globe with his teachings about contemplation, peace, and the interconnectedness of life. Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967 and founder of the Plum Village center in the south of France, Thay, as he is known by his followers, has faced conflict and strife in his own life, but still strives to preach the wisdom of spirituality and the importance of being one with the Earth. Now, Variety has premiered the trailer for a brand-new documentary about Thích Nhất Hạnh and the community of Zen Buddhist monks and nuns who have dedicated their lives to mindfulness, narrated by Oscar-nominated actor Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Imitation Game”). Watch the trailer below.
“In my life I’ve been so touched by the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh,” says Cumberbatch. “It was a great honor to work on ‘Walk With Me.’ I have no doubt that audiences across the world will be moved by this beautifully crafted film.” Meanwhile, WestEnd Films, who recently acquired the film, says that “this visceral film offers a rare insight into a community of people who have left their families and given up all their possessions to practice the art of mindfulness at the Plum Village monastery in rural France.”
WestEnd will be showing the “Walk With Me” trailer to buyers during its promo-reel screenings at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
