What happens if you suddenly grow a tail one day? Would it be just another burden or would it be the catalyst that turns your entire life around? This is the premise of Ivan I. Tverdovsky’s “Zoology,” the story of a lonely middle-aged zoo worker who finds herself with a new appendage and begins to experience life again. Natasha (Natalia Pavlenkova) still lives with her mother in a small coastal town and constantly struggles for independence. But when she grows her tail, she uses it as an opportunity to redefine her life. She begins a relationship with a man and allows herself to experience joy for the first time, but eventually she’s forced to make a choice between reality and illusion.
