The glamour of old Hollywood is practically overflowing out of the new “Allied” trailer. The spy drama, directed by Robert Zemeckis, features a classic movie star pairing in Marion Cotillard and Brad Pitt, plus golden visuals and an espionage tale that certainly brings to mind “Casablanca,” “The Conspirators,” and “Paris After Dark,” among many other titles.
“Allied” stars Pitt as British intelligence officer Max Vatan. During a mission in Casablanca, Vatan is forced to work with French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard), and the two end of falling in love and starting a family. But can two spies maintain such marital bliss? That’s the question the new trailer proposes, teasing that Beausejour may be keeping a dark secret from her husband.
The talent involved suggests a major Oscar player, but the new trailer suggests something far better: An old fashioned popcorn flick for adults. Paramount Pictures will release the film in theaters November 23, making a possible AFI FEST birth likely. Watch the official full trailer below:
