Our long, international nightmare is over this week, as six new episodes of “Black Mirror” are set to premiere on Netflix. The sci-fi-themed anthology series, a sort of latter-day “Twilight Zone,” aired its first two seasons on Britain’s Channel 4, but, as with many beloved series (see also “Gilmore Girls”), is being revived by the streaming platform. Watch a new featurette below.
The minute-long spot doesn’t actually reveal much, which is probably for the best given the nature of the show. Series creator Charlie Brooker, executive producer Annabel Jones and Bryce Dallas Howard (who’s among the many new stars to be joining this season) offer brief thoughts on “Black Mirror,” which in its first seven episodes has taken a dark look at our relationship with technology. “We didn’t want every episode to just be unrelentingly bleak,” Brooker explains. “Having said that, the bleakness hasn’t been washed away.”
Also joining the cast for this latest go-round: Alice Eve, James Norton, Cherry Jones, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mackenzie Davis and Kelly Macdonald. All six new episodes will be available to stream on Netflix this Friday, October 21.
