“Happy Endings” might never return in an official capacity, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone forever. The ABC sitcom was canceled after 57 episodes across its first three seasons, amassing warm reviews and a devoted following — as well as disappointing ratings that many have blamed on ABC’s scheduling. As part of EW PopFest, however, the show’s main cast will reunite for a live-read of a “lost episode” at the end of this month.
Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally, Damon Wayans, Jr. and Casey Wilson will appear for the event, which was confirmed on Twitter by both writer/producer Prentice Penny (“Not. A. Game,” he wrote) and the “official ‘Happy Endings’ writer’s office” account (“WRITERS ROOM IS OPEN FOR THE LOST EPISODE!”).
The live-read will take place on October 29 in Los Angeles, which is probably bittersweet news for diehard fans who live anywhere outside of L.A.
