‘In a Valley of Violence’ Sensation Jumpy the Dog Paints a Landscape

Ethan Hawke receives top billing in Ti West’s “In a Valley of Violence,” but his canine co-star is no slouch: Jumpy the dog is a YouTube star whose videos have amassed millions of views online. To adequately hype yourself for the “House of the Devil” director’s latest — or, really, to just watch some cute dog videos — avail yourself of the pooch’s exploits below.

Described as “one of the most well-trained and intelligent dogs on the planet,” the border collie/blue heeler mix can lay claim to many impressive feats: back flips, skateboarding, high leaps and deep dives. “It starts from jumping from a table to a chest, and you work a few yards away and keep stretching the distance,” says Jimmy’s owner Omar von Muller. “Now Jumpy has mastered a host of tricks; his favorite is skateboarding. “Once he jumps on the skateboard, it’s hard to get him off.”

James Ransone, John Travolta, Taissa Farmiga and Burn Gorman co-star in the Western. Focus World will release “In a Valley of Violence” on October 21.
