This past Friday, Netflix dropped the debut season of “Luke Cage” on its streaming service. About a fugitive with superhuman strength who tries to rebuild his life in Harlem, it was the third Marvel series to debut on Netflix following “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones.” Now, Netflix has announced the release date and first image for its fourth series “Iron Fist.” Check out the teaser trailer below and the image above.
“Iron Fist” follows billionaire Danny Rand (played by “Game of Thrones” star Finn Jones) who returns to New York after being missing for years and presumed dead. Upon his return, he tries to reconnect with his past and family legacy, but soon is forced to use his kung-fu mastery and summon the power of the Iron Fist to defeat a rising enemy in the city. The series also stars Jessica Henwick (“Game of Thrones”), David Wenham (“The Lord of the Rings”), Jessica Stroup (“90210”), and Tom Pelphrey (“Guiding Light”).
Along with Netflix’s four Marvel series, the service will also release “The Defenders,” an eight-episode event series that will feature Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist teaming up to fight a powerful threat together, sometime in 2017. Netflix also has plans for a “Punisher” series starring Jon Bernthal as Punisher, who first appeared in the “Daredevil” series.
All 13 episodes of “Iron Fist” will be released on March 17, 2017 exclusively on Netflix.
