Marvel and Netflix’s “Luke Cage” series just got a little better, thanks to a fan-made video that reimagines the superhero series as the ‘90s sitcom “Family Matters.” Created by YouTuber Zach Ace, the video uses the characters of “Luke Cage” and inserts them into the opening credits sequence of the family show.
The mashup begins with a shot of New York, a barber shop and introduces viewers to Frankie Faison, who portrays Henry ‘Pop’ Hunter. The show’s tone quickly changes from serious to happy-go-lucky with the addition of the song “As Days Go By” playing in the background and the shots of the rest of the cast smiling and laughing. To top it off, the clip also pokes fun at Steve Urkel (Jaleel White) by calling Rob Morgan’s character Turk Barrett, Turkel.
This isn’t his first time Ace has reimagined superheroes with sitcoms. In August, he released a video that added the cast of “Avengers” to the “Full House” opening credits sequence. Check out the “Luke Cage”/“Family Matters” mashup below.
The first season of “Luke Cage” is now streaming on Netflix.
