The one-hour serialized drama has been given a 13-episode order by CBS, which will air the show during summer 2017. “Salvation” follows an MIT grad student and a tech superstar who tell a low-level Pentagon official that they’ve made a terrifying discovery: An asteroid is just six months away from colliding with Earth.
The “Salvation” pickup follows CBS’ decision to cancel two of its summer series from this year, “BrainDead” and “American Gothic.” The network is bringing back its other summer drama, “Zoo,” for a third season.

“‘Salvation’ is the type of fast-paced, dramatic ride that viewers look for in a summer event series,” said Glenn Geller, President, CBS Entertainment.
Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro wrote the script (based on the story by Matt Wheeler) and will executive produce with Kurtzman, Heather Kadin and Peter Lenkov. CBS TV Studios is producing.
