“The Simpsons” may be 28 seasons in, but a funny new short proves that the show still knows how to provoke controversy, even amongst a loyal fan base.
In “Homer Votes 2016,” the Simpsons patriarch heads to the poll with Hillary on the brain, as “[she’s] the candidate who forgave her husband no matter what he did, not the guy who really likes his daughter.”
He’s then confronted by a disguised Vladimir Putin, whose motivation for voter fraud is clear: “The orange man, he will build a wall to keep out beauty queens who eat too much. Plus, he has a plan to make Russia great again!”
The clip has amassed hundreds of heated comments on YouTube, with fans arguing as to who Homer would actually vote for. The likes and dislikes on the video are also in an even split, because nothing is bringing America together on the internet quite like this year’s election.
In 2012, Homer voted for Mitt Romney. Now you know!
The 600th episode of The Simpsons, which will be Treehouse of Horror XXVII, airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
