They said a woman couldn’t be president but now Isabel (Mariana Treviño) is taking over Los Cuervos de Nuevo Toledo in the second season of Netflix’s hit Spanish-language series “Club De Cuervos.”

At the end of the first season, her brother Salvador “Chava” Iglesias Jr., portrayed by Luis Gerardo Méndez, was voted out as president of the company after he put the team’s future and his late father’s legacy at risk with his limited knowledge of sports management and ruthless spending. Season 2 begins with Isabel trying to lead the team to victory.

“It’s one thing to want to be president, but it’s different if you try to screw me over,” Chava tells his sister in the trailer.

The clip also shows how Isabel’s husband and ex-Cuervo, Rafael Reina (Antonio de la Vega), has now taken over as head coach, as well as how Chava goes missing and his faithful assistant, Hugo Sánchez (Jesés Zavala), goes in search of his “jefe.”

The Mexican dramedy was created by Michael Lam and Gary Alazraki, who also serves as director. “Club” was Netflix’s first ever Spanish-language series and also stars Daniel Giménez Cacho, Stephanie Cayo, Ianis Guerrero and Joaquín Ferreira, among others.

Alazraki is best known as the writer and director of “Nosotros los Nobles,” starring Méndez and “How To Get Away With Murder” actress Karla Souza. Upon its release the film became the most successful Mexican film of all time, grossing over $26 million, before being replaced by Eugenio Derbez’s “Instructions Not Included.”

Season 2 of “Club de Cuervos” will be released on December 9 on Netflix.
