According to StarWars.com, the actress will “round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures.” No other information about her role was revealed.
The “Star Wars” standalone movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and stars Alden Ehrenreich as Solo. Set prior to the original trilogy, the film will tell the young smuggler’s backstory years before the events involving Luke, Leia and Darth Vader. Last month Donald Glover was cast as young Lando Calrissian, Solo’s frenemy, originally played by Billy Dee Williams in “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.”
Clarke is best known for her role of Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s hit series “Game of Thrones,” for which she’s earned three Emmy nominations in the Supporting Actress category. She was recently seen in the summer rom-com “Me Before You” and will next star in “Voice from the Stone,” “Set It Up” and “Above Suspicion.”
The untitled Han Solo movie will be released in 2018.
