Rupert Sanders’ “Ghost In The Shell” adaptation has been making headlines for nearly a year now. Scarlett Johansson’s casting in the lead role of the Major (full name Motoko Kusanagi in the original manga series) has ignited countless discussions on whitewashing in Hollywood, but the controversy isn’t keeping Paramount Pictures from a full-blown marketing campaign ahead of the movie’s 2017 release. After several cryptic teasers, the official trailer finally arrives, and it’s badass to say the least.

Johansson plays a special ops human-cyborg who leads an elite task force known as Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals in the world, Major must locate and put an end to a cyber terrorist looking to wipe out advancements in cyber technology.

Paramount opens “Ghost In The Shell”  in theaters March 31, 2017. Watch the trailer below:
