Most everything that happened to Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny Baudelaire (Presley Smith) was rife with misfortune, misery and despair. After their parents die in a tragic fire, the orphans are placed in the custody their distant relative Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris), a mysterious and devious figure who plans on stealing their inheritance. Netflix’s upcoming “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” kicks off just there. The streaming service released the first official trailer, which you can check out below.
Based on the internationally best-selling books series, Lemony Snicket’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” the story follows the three children as they try to evade Olaf’s scheming attempts to steal their fortune, meanwhile picking up clues about their parents’ past.
The series is created by Daniel Handler, the author of the novels who used Lemony Snicket as pen name, and is executive produced by Handler and Barry Sonnenfeld. Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack, Alfre Woodard, Catherine O’Hara, K. Todd Freeman, Aasif Maandvi, Don Johnson and more co-star.
“Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” premieres January 13, 2017 on Netflix.
