Mark Hamill Slams Trump’s ‘Despicable’ Cabinet Picks

Will Washington, D.C. soon be a wretched hive of scum and villainy?

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

Mark Hamill knows a thing or two about evil empires, and he’s getting a bad vibe from Donald Trump’s incoming administration. After battling the likes of Darth Vader and Boba Fett in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, the actor has this to say about the names being considered for prominent cabinet positions: “If you look at what’s being assembled for our government it’s like, yikes,” he tells the Daily Beast. “It’s a who’s-who of really despicable people.”

Which is especially funny — albeit not ha-ha funny — considering that Trump’s chief strategist, Steve Bannon, has literally cited Vader as someone with power whom he seems to admire. Like any good member of the Rebel Alliance, though, Hamill is resisting the urge to up and run. “It’s tempting to say, ‘Well, I’m moving to Canada, I can’t stand it,'” the actor admits. “But in other ways, it’s a challenge to stay and defend your country and do what you think is right and not retreat and hide under the covers. It’s not gonna be easy, that’s for sure.”

Hamill is also well known as a voice actor, most famously portraying the Joker on “Batman: The Animated Series” and other TV series and films. No word yet on whether Bannon also looks up to him.
