National Geographic Channel’s latest miniseries, “Mars,” envisions humankind’s first harrowing attempt to colonize the Red Planet. Premiering next week, IndieWire has a behind-the-scenes look at the six-episode event series, which tells an inspiring story from the point of a fictional crew on a mission to Mars in 2033.
The two-minute clip features scenes from the upcoming episodes, as well as interviews with “The Martian” author Andy Weir, Neil Degrasse Tyson, Elon Musk, and more. The series is directed by Everardo Gout and was filmed earlier this year in Budapest and Morocco.
“Going to Mars is a reality that is happening now,” says Gout in the clip. “This show, I believe, gives us hope on who we are and how we can achieve our dreams as a species.”
