Amazon pleased many Prime subscribers when it made certain streaming titles available to download and watch offline, and now Netflix is following suit. The company announced the move in a press release this morning, noting that the new feature has been requested by members hoping to, for instance, binge-watch “Stranger Things” while on a plane or in other locations with limited and/or expensive internet access.
Viewers can now click a new download button on a film or television show’s details page and watch it later without being online. Not every title is available for offline viewing, but several Netflix Originals already are: “Orange Is the New Black,” “Narcos,” “The Crown.”
The feature comes included in all plans at no extra cost and can be used on phones and tablets — just not desktop computers and laptops.
