In the past couple years, WGN America has beefed up its original programming lineup, most recently with the period drama “Underground,” which examines the Underground Railroad. Soon, the network will premiere a new season of their rural thriller “Outsiders,” which follows the Farrell clan, a family of mysterious isolationists who live in the Appalachian hills and constantly battle with the townsfolk below for sovereignty. Watch an extended trailer for the second season below.

This season, the battle between the Farrells and the town escalates as their uneasy truce has recently come to an abrupt end. Now, everyone is put to test when they’re faced with new challenges and enemies. The series stars David Morse (“Treme”) as Big Foster, the gruff and powerful de facto patriarch of the Farrell family and Thomas M. Wright (“Top of the Lake”) as Sheriff T. Wade Houghton, a cop who has a rough and mysterious history with the Farrells. It co-stars Ryan Hurt (“Sons of Anarchy”), Gillian Alexy (“The Americans”), Kyle Gallner (“American Sniper”), Christiana Jackson (“Boardwalk Empire”), Joe Anderson (“Across the Universe”) and more.
The series is created and written by playwright Peter Mattei, who executive produces alongside Fedora Entertainment’s Peter Tolan (“Rescue Me,”) and Michael Wimer (“2012”), and Touchy Feely Films’ Paul Giamatti (“Sideways”) and Dan Carey (“All Is Bright”).
