It’s sad to say, but we’ve officially been living in a post-“Lost,” post-“Lord of the Rings” world for many moons now. The former Charlie Pace and Merry Brandybuck plays a rather different character here: a man whose unrequited love for a woman turn dark and violent. When the object of his affections (Ksenia Solo) repeatedly spurns his advances, he kidnaps her and locks her in a cage. “All these people talk about love like it’s this lightning bolt,” he says to his captive. “Love’s not a lightning bolt; real love takes work.”
Jennette McCurdy and Nathan Parsons also appear in the film, which first premiered at South by Southwest earlier this year. Samuel Goldwyn Films will release “Pet” in theaters on December 2.
