Legendary artist Prince may no longer be with us, but his life story will soon be hitting the big screen in “Prince: R U Listening?”
According to Screen Daily, Ascot Elite Entertainment Group has acquired the rights to a new documentary about the “Purple Rain” singer, from US sales and finance company 13 Films.
“Prince: R U Listening?” will chronicle the musician’s early years and rise to super-stardom as seen through the eyes of his bandmates, friends and family including Dez Dickerson, Prince’s first guitar player and Andre Cymone, the singer’s close friend and original bassist. The doc will also include interviews with Bono, Mick Jagger, Billy Idol, Lenny Kravitz and Sheila E., and be directed and produced by Michael John Kirk.
The film is scheduled to be released mid 2017.
Prince passed away at the age of 57 on April 21 from an accidental overdose of the painkiller fentanyl at his Paisley Park Estate.
This week it was announced that there will be a four-day festival, “Celebration 2017,” to celebrate the first anniversary of the pop star’s death. The event will take place from April 20 – 23 at his Paisley Park Studios compound in Minnesota. Artists including Prince’s band, The Revolution, Morris Day and 3RDEYEGIRL, among others, will perform during the festival.
